Recreational Dance

Our quality recreational dance programme lineup consists of Jazz, Tap, Ballet, Aerial, Acro, Hip Hop and Boys Only classes with daytime and evening classes available.

Whether your child wants to join just for fun or if they want to pursue a career as a professional performer, Goddards Studio provides and nurtures to the wants and needs of each and every student, delivering the highest calibre of training. We promote individuality and versatility; we encourage all of our students to find their own voice and their own style.

​

These classes are fun and full of energy. There is no pressure, no competition, just dance! Stay fit in an enjoyable way, get physically active, and meet new people. Recreational dance is all about trying new and different programmes to figure out which style your child enjoys the most. By keeping the classes light and stress-free, it gives students of all ages a chance to just cut loose and dance.

 

Junior - Ages 7-10 Years
Our Junior classes are designed for dancers who are ready to start building on their foundational technique and establishing and building a solid base of dance which allows them to become versatile, all round dancers. We focus heavily on continuing to build and expand their technique, strength and stamina all while building on performance, self-expression and individuality. 

 

Senior - Ages 11+ Years
Our Senior programme requires dancers to now focus on a more advanced technique and continue to develop and master their foundational and advanced skills, technique and performance to excel in all genres of dance.

Styles and Syllabi

Acrobatic Arts

Acrobatic Arts is based on safe and effective progressions with proven results in five divisions of AcroDance: Flexibility, Strength, Balancing, Limbering and Tumbling. Developed with input from professionals and experts in ballet, modern dance, jazz, contortion, artistic gymnastics, rhythmic gymnastics, sport acrobatics, yoga, acro yoga, pilates, physiotherapy, hand balancing and more, you will not find a more comprehensive program.

Acrodance blends classical dance technique with precision acrobatic elements. Students will learn beginner to advance tumbling skills on mats designed for safety. They will learn to combine the art of tumbling and choreography creating seamless and impressive performances. All dancers will receive an Acro training handbook to help with motivation and goal setting.

Benefits: Acro develops strength, flexibility, balance and body awareness.

A.D.A.P.T Jazz *To excel in Jazz, we strongly recommend that students also register for Ballet and/or Tap.

Jazz allows a dancer to showcase their originality whilst developing musicality and the ability to focus on performance, expression and technical precision. Jazz has its own vocabulary of steps, and its own class structure, each term we will concentrate on a different style of jazz which further develops versatility.

Benefits: Improves co-ordination, stamina and builds a strong foundation for other types of dance.

A.D.A.P.T Tap *We strongly recommend that students also register for Ballet and/or Jazz when registering for Tap.

Goddards is proud to offer these incredible dance syllabi in our Tap classes. ADAPT teaches and creates a strong, solid technical foundation, along with artistic expression. ADAPT students are able enjoy quality technical training, supporting good competitive values along with enhancing stronger performance abilities.

Tap is a wonderful style of dance which allows a dancer to create music with their feet. It is the ultimate component in learning about rhythm and timing. Tap is broadly divided into two styles – Rhythm Tap and Theatre Tap. Rhythm Tap focuses on musicality and improvisation, and Theatre Tap is much more stylistic

​Benefits: Tap strengthens the legs and feet all while increasing mobility in the hips, knees and ankles.

RAD Ballet *We strongly recommend that students also register for Tap and/or Jazz when registering for Ballet.

Grade 1 to Grade 8 incorporates ballet, free movement, and character, and is suitable for candidates from seven years (Grades 1–5) and eleven years (Grades 6–8). Graded and Vocational Graded exams lead to recognized achievement at a high level in dance.

​

Ballet improves agility and the ability to move with grace, it is the foundation of all dance. Ballet teaches the key fundamentals of technique a dancer requires to flourish in all genres of dance and is essential when becoming a skilled, and well rounded dancer. 

Benefits: It develops discipline and dedication, improves posture, balance, flexibility and strength.​

Hip Hop and Breakdance

Hip Hop is a vibrant combination of street dance and jazz. It is a hard hitting performance driven style emphasizing the importance of musicality, choreography and more! It is a really fun form of freestyle that allows boys and girls to discover and develop their own style and personality. In this class dancers will learn a variety of specialized moves including locking, popping, whacking and house, along with essential power moves and freezes.

​Benefits: It focuses on dynamics, timing, rhythm and pick up speed.
